Conservatory Climate Control

Keeping your conservatory cool in summer and warm in winter

This is the age old problem with conservatories. Too hot in summer and to cold in winter. Conservatories that face South, South-east and South-west will be most adversely affected by the sun. The heat gain and heat loss is so extreme in standard conservatories with untreated glass walls and an old polycarbonate roof, that they can experience temperatures in summer that can reach between forty to fifty degree Celsius (equal to eight single bar electric heaters all switched at the same time) to minus ten degrees in the winter (freezing). If these issues are not dealt with the conservatory will be an unpleasant place to be for most of the year.

There are a number of systems, but the most common in conservatories is the split system. This comprises of two separate elements, an evaporator that is fitted inside the conservatory and a condenser unit that is fitted on the outside of the structure. The two units are connected using copper piping. The unit placed outside extracts hot from the conservatory and dissipates it into the air and the unit inside warms and cools the air depending on what is required. The internal unit is referred to as a heat pump. This method of heating and cooling is recognized as being the most efficient heating and cooling device and has a A energy rating.

These heat exchanges come with a lot of features to make your life more comfortable. As standard, the unit is operated by a remote control. Using this, you can adjust the fan speed to rapidly cool or heat, or quietly maintain a comfortable temperature that can be pre set or adjusted by the remote unit. The air vanes are osillating to distrabute to heated or cooled evenly. The units contain filters that remove impurities and particles from the air for cleaner breathing.
