Warm up your Conservatory for chilling Winter

Conservatory for chilling Winter

Winter is on the porch. And the snowfall has begun. If you love your Conservatory and are willing to use it all the year round then get prepared. Prepare your Conservatory today with weapons to fight with the cold winds, chilly breeze and the mighty snow. There are several heating options you can choose from to warm up your little space.

Conservatories demand special heating solutions because of glass walls, high ceilings and outdoor location. Heat escapes more quickly through glass as compared to concrete walls. Though double glazed glasses can minimize this heat loss but they cannot eliminate it totally.

Options you can consider to heat up your Conservatories are:

  1. Electric under floor heating: This system will warm up the floor of the conservatory using electrical energy. The heat from the floor will warm up and radiate towards the ceiling. This will warm up the entire space. And it will not use much of your space unlike radiators. But this option is no widely used because of few drawbacks. The response time is very slow hence you cannot get a warmed up Conservatory instantly, and moreover, if you have a large conservatory it will not be sufficient enough. You will have to wisely choose the floorings as thick materials like carpet or rugs will prohibit heat from spreading. And the huge electricity bills are also a minus point. But this is one of the cheapest options in terms of installation. You can even do it yourself.
  2. Extending the existing central heating system: If you already have a central heating system in your house, you can simply extend it for your Conservatory. Just add another radiator to heating system. This will generate sufficient heat to warm up even a bigger conservatory. There are a wide range of electric radiators available in the market. The latest ones come with thermostat so that the temperature is always moderate, and the room will never get over heated.
  3. Add a Radiator: If you cannot extend your central heating system or you don’t have one then this is the best option. You can add an electric radiator. You don’t need to extend any pipe line, or pay the installation cost. Market is flooding with advanced models of electric radiators. They are now available in low level and tall, skinny wall-mounted designs or floor-mounted designs. You can choose the one that will suit your conservatory design. Electric radiators are superior in performance and can take the room temperature up relatively fast.
  4. Trench heating: This is the most simple and cheap option of heating up your conservatory. Trench heating can offer a warm room with benefits of radiators without compromising for any wall or floor space. A trench provides a site for a radiator below floor level with a stylish grill being placed over the top at floor level allowing heat to radiate upwards without the slow response times of under floor heating.
